Bandai reveals Naruto Card Game! The main rival to Mythos shows its hand.
The creators have shown the card design and the gameplay of Naruto Card Game today... It is impressive. We also know the release window!

Bandai officially announces a new Naruto card game! What you need to know, and how it compares to Naruto Mythos
This is landmark news for every fan of Masashi Kishimoto's universe and for TCG collectors and players alike. Bandai has published the official trailer for the upcoming NARUTO CARD GAME. The worldwide release is planned for summer 2027, but we already know the key rules, the card types and how the game looks.
Here is a summary of the most important information, plus our take on how Bandai's new title stacks up against Naruto Mythos, the series the community already knows.
Card design and unique artwork: checkmate for the competition?
The visual layer is one of the highlights of the announcement. Bandai went for a remarkably varied artistic approach:
Unique artworks: characters illustrated by many different artists.
Frames from iconic moments: there is no shortage of designs referencing the key scenes of the anime.
Official manga artwork: the game will also feature original illustrations taken straight from the Naruto manga, a huge plus for purists and collectors.

That visual variety, plus reaching for the original manga linework, gives Bandai's project an enormous aesthetic advantage and will certainly attract collectors for whom the artwork comes first.
Card types and deck building
In Bandai's game a deck consists of 51 cards (1 Leader, 5 Chakra Cards, 1 Summon Card and the remaining cards in the main deck). The whole system is built around picking cards in the colour that matches your Leader.
There are 5 main card types:
Leader Card: the core of the deck, the card your strategy and colour choices are built around.

Character Card: your first line of attack and defence. Among them are the powerful EX Characters, playable once specific board conditions are met.

Chakra Card: resource cards needed to activate support cards such as Ninjutsu.

Summon Card: required to bring characters onto the battlefield.

Support Cards / Ninjutsu: support cards that let you make face-down plays from the Support Area and counter your opponent's moves.
Rules and flow of play
You win a match by reducing your opponent's Leader life points to zero through attacks with your characters.
The support system is the key tactical element. Players can hide characters in the Support Area using Chakra cards and then perform a so-called "Cut-in", activating face-down effects and Ninjutsu cards in response to the opponent's moves. That makes it possible to swing a duel during the enemy's turn.
Bandai vs Naruto Mythos: what does it mean for players?
The Naruto card game market is getting genuinely interesting. Watching Bandai's official announcement, it is hard not to compare it with existing projects such as Naruto Mythos:
Lower barrier to entry: the mechanics Bandai showed look considerably less complicated and more approachable than the tougher systems in Mythos. Straightforward rules for gathering resources and attacking will make the start easier for new players who were put off by the complexity of Naruto Mythos. At the top level it will probably still be hard, of course, but we are talking about the entry threshold itself.
Pulling players from One Piece TCG: the structure of the game (a Leader, resource zones, racing to knock out the Leader's life) shows clear similarities to the hit One Piece Card Game from the same studio. As the industry expects, those intuitive mechanics will certainly draw in a large slice of the current One Piece TCG player base.
Presentation favours Bandai: multiple artists, dedicated artwork and official access to manga frames mean Bandai's visual layer sets a new standard that will be hard to match.
Summary
The NARUTO CARD GAME announcement points to a major reshuffle of the market. An approachable entry point, a proven gameplay model and phenomenal artwork support could well let the upcoming game dominate the scene after its 2027 release.
