Shinobi Shiren is almost here!

It won't be long now: 4 September brings the newest Naruto Mythos set, Shinobi Shiren (although official stores get their hands on it as early as 28 August).

The first products to hit the shelves are:

• Naruto Mythos TCG Set 2, 1st edition Booster Display
• Naruto Mythos TCG Set 2, 1st edition Special Pack design A

Then, on 16 October, the line-up expands with:

• Naruto Mythos TCG Set 2, 1st edition Special Pack design B
• Naruto Mythos TCG Set 2, 1st edition Team Set

So what is inside the boxes and boosters?

1. New artwork

A new set means new art. So far we have seen cards from Team 7 and the Sand Village. The artwork varies, but just like in the previous set you will find both anime stills and pieces with that distinctive coloured background.

2. New mission cards

Here too there is fresh artwork to enjoy.

3. Gold cards

The real eye-catchers: the gold cards. This time there are three of them, Gaara, Jiraiya and Tsunade.

4. Secret Variant

The chase every collector is waiting for. Four cards again. Naruto, Sasuke and Kakashi return with different artwork, and Zabuza joins them as the newcomer. Good luck pulling any of them :D These cards are of course also available as regular secrets.

5. Chibi cards

This one is completely new. As you can see, the art style is distinctive, you could call it childlike. Originally they were meant to come only with boxes bought in preorder. Now, however, one of these cards can be found in every display box. On top of that, 1 in 100 boxes hides a special chibi ultra rare.

6. Duel cards

These bring a new mechanic into the game. They link with specific cards and work in pairs. Some effects trigger only when a particular character is present in the same mission, no matter which player's side it is on.

7. Shinobi cards

These carry special artwork made by Studio Pierrot. They connect not only through the art, they are also part of the duel mechanic described above.

8. Utility cards

Weapon cards, food cards, attachment cards. All of them are in the newest set as well. What are they for?

Attachment cards represent objects, techniques, locations and other iconic elements of the Naruto world. They attach to character or mission cards, grant new effects and open up new strategic options.

Weapon cards and food cards add possibilities of their own. Some shinobi use weapons to fight better, others simply need a full stomach ;)

What about the drop rates?

According to the creators, these are the rates to expect:

• Rare Art: roughly 1 in 7 packs
• Secret Rare: roughly 1 in 10 packs (about 2-3 per box)
• Special Rare: roughly 1 in 47 packs
• Shinobi Rare: roughly 1 in 701 packs
• Gold Card: roughly 1 in 2350 packs
• Numbered Card: on average 1 in 2950 packs
• Chibi Card: 1 of 8 random cards per box (they come with the box, you will not find them in a pack)
• Chibi Ultra Rare: 1 in 100 boxes (most likely a Naruto or Sasuke card, replacing the standard one)
